|Multiple Tooth Implants
If you have lost multiple teeth, dental implants can be one of the best tooth replacement options for you. Dental implants are titanium screws that are embedded into the jawbone and provide a solid foundation for an artificial crown that is used for chewing. At Star City Dental, Dr. Melanie Fulton and Dr. Meghan Hungerford offer you multiple tooth implants which can help you restore the form, function, and esthetics of your mouth in the best way possible.
Dental Implants and the Health of Your Jaw
Tooth loss can result in several oral issues. The gap left by the missing teeth can cause your remaining natural teeth to shift out of place and become crooked. This reduces the esthetics of your smile and makes it difficult to brush and floss your teeth. Moreover, over time, the alveolar ridge that holds your teeth will deteriorate since it has served its purpose. This will cause the jawbone to lose its density and make your facial structure collapse. When you acquire a soft jawbone, it makes it difficult to get dental implants as well. However, you can regain the quantity and quality of your jawbone through the bone augmentation procedure. This is a minimally invasive surgery that requires placing a bone grafting material in areas of the jaw which have low bone density. Once the bone has been rebuilt in the area, we can then place a dental implant in your jaw to prevent your jaw from further deterioration.
Types of Multiple Tooth Implants
If you have lost one tooth in your mouth, a single tooth implant can be an effective way to replace it. If, however, you have lost multiple teeth or all of your teeth, it is better to have multiple tooth implants like implant-supported dentures and The All-on-4® Treatment Concept.
Implant-supported dentures are a type of overdentures that are supported by six to eight dental implants on either jaw. At Star City Dental, we will first perform a dental exam to see the health of your remaining teeth. Depending on their condition, we may extract them. We will place six to eight dental implants on each jaw. These implants each have a ball attachment on them that allows them to be connected to an overdenture that holds a full arch of teeth. This is a more cost-effective and less invasive procedure than having dental implants for each and every one of your teeth.
All-On-4 Treatment Concept
The All-on-4 Treatment Concept is quite similar to implant-supported bridges, except that it uses only four dental implants to anchor a full set of artificial teeth to your jaw. Two of the implants on each arch are placed at the back of the jaw at a 30-degree to 45-degree angle. This tilt allows the implants to make sure of the denser bone at the back of the jaw and offer the implants more stability. Once the implants are placed on the jaw, the denture with a full set of teeth is placed on them. Living without your teeth can be very challenging. Thanks to dental implant treatment, you can now have a full set of teeth that offers you the most effective functions, superior comfort, and durability.
