The advent of COVID-19 has led to some significant changes in how we manage patient care. Our primary goal is to keep you safe and ensure that you receive the best dental care.
What We Are Doing to Keep Everyone Safe and Protected
One of the ways we are enforcing safety is by asking that patients arrive at the scheduled time for their appointment. This is different from the ways we did things before the spread of the COVID-19 virus. By arriving close to the appointment time, patients will spend less time in the waiting area, which encourages social distancing. We also take temperature readings of patients as part of our routine examinations or prior to performing dental procedures. In addition, we use personal protective equipment appropriate for the type of procedure that is being performed. A rubber dam is used whenever needed to reduce exposure to infectious agents. High-speed evacuation is also practiced if a dental procedure creates an aerosol.
Other Important Measures
After we see patients, we autoclave or sterilize hand pierces to prevent the spread of germs. We are also committed to cleaning and disinfecting the public areas in our office, including the counters, chairs, bathroom facilities, and door handles. We have also taken measures to remove the magazines and other items from the waiting area that we cannot disinfect.
Following CDC Recommendations
We have also read and follow the recommendations provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or the CDC. The CDC insists that we use masks for single-use purposes. We do not reprocess the masks so they can be worn again by patients. We also wear a surgical mask and protective eyewear that comes with a shield to protect the mucous membranes of the nose, mouth, and eyes from the spattering of blood or body fluids. We change masks between patient visits or during treatment if the mask becomes damp.
When you make an appointment with us, you do not need to worry about your health and safety. We are doing all we can to provide you with the optimum dental care while keeping you safe and protected. Schedule an appointment today to arrange an appointment for a cleaning, exam, and consultation.
