What is Zoom! Whitening?

What is Zoom! Whitening? If you have yellowing teeth, you are not alone. Over 45 million Americans have had tooth whitening procedures to get a bright white smile. One such procedure is known as Zoom! that can help your teeth regain their former glory.

What is Zoom! Teeth Whitening?

Zoom! is an innovative dental whitening process that is quite effective in lightening tooth discoloration. Tooth discoloration can occur due to various factors like certain foods, nicotine use, alcohol use, aging, and hereditary.

Zoom! whitening process involves the use of Zoom Advanced Power Chairside Lamp, which can activate the hydrogen peroxide in the whitening solution and make your teeth whiter quickly. With this technology, you can brighten your teeth up to eight shades in a single day.

What Does Zoom! Teeth Whitening Involve?

At Star City Dental, Dr. Melanie Fulton and Dr. Meghan Hungerford will first perform an exam on your teeth and gums to find out whether you are a good candidate for Zoom! whitening treatment. Once we determine the process will be effective, we will start the Zoom! treatment.
Please keep in mind that if you have any tooth-colored restorative work done on your teeth, it will not respond to the whitening treatment. That is why we advise you that if you want to get any dental restorations, you should get your teeth whitened first so that your restorations match your teeth.

We will apply a protective gel to your gums so that the bleaching solution does not irritate them. Next, we will apply the Zoom! whitening gel to your teeth to break down the stain molecules on your teeth. We will then direct the light of the Zoom! lamp to the bleaching gel so that the whitening process is accelerated.
The gel will be placed on your teeth for about 15 minutes during which the light will continue to shine on them. We will perform three 15-minute sessions on your teeth and once the treatment is completed, apply a fluoride solution.

You will see a dramatic difference in your teeth before and after the procedure.

Depending on your eating and lifestyle habits, Zoom! can last for over one year. If you do not eat staining food, do not smoke, and exercise good oral hygiene, your Zoom! whitening can last for a longer time. That is why we always recommend a six-monthly dental routine checkup.
